What is WPS and How Does it Work?

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) is a method for quickly and easily establishing a secure connection between a wireless router and a device such as a computer, smartphone, or tablet. It is designed to make it easy for users to set up a wireless network and connect to it,

even if they are not particularly tech-savvy.

To use WPS, you will need a device with WPS support (such as a modern wireless router) and a device that you want to connect to the wireless network (such as a laptop or smartphone). Follow these steps to set up a WPS connection:

  1. On your wireless router, look for a WPS button. This is usually located on the back or side of the router.
  2. On the device you want to connect to the wireless network, look for a WPS option in the wireless settings. This may be called “Wi-Fi Protected Setup” or something similar.
  3. Press the WPS button on your router and then initiate the connection on your device. This may require pressing a button or entering a PIN code.
  4. The router and device will communicate with each other and establish a secure connection. This process should only take a few seconds.

Once the connection is established, your device will be connected to the wireless network and you should be able to access the Internet. it’s a convenient way to set up a wireless connection, but it is not as secure as other methods such as manually entering a wireless password. If security is a concern, you may want to consider using a different method to connect to your wireless network.
